Travelling to India for a planned medical appointment requires two separate decisions: choosing a qualified healthcare provider, and arranging travel that fits the treating team’s advice. ASM Charter can discuss private aircraft options for eligible passengers; the clinic and licensed medical professionals remain responsible for treatment, medical clearance and fitness to fly.
Plan with the treating team first
Confirm the appointment, expected recovery time and any restrictions on flying directly with the hospital and treating clinician. Ask whether an escort, mobility assistance, medication storage or oxygen is required. The aircraft operator must assess what equipment and assistance it can accept before a booking is confirmed. A private charter is not a medical transport service.
Choose a practical airport and schedule
India has several international gateways, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad. The best arrival point depends on the clinic’s location, available aircraft and airport operating conditions. Build in time for ground transfers, appointment changes and rest after the flight. Flight timing, routing and airport access remain subject to operator approval, permissions and local availability.
Check entry and travel requirements
Visa eligibility and documentation vary by nationality, trip purpose and current Indian rules. Check the appropriate official Indian government or consular source before making a booking. Confirm passport validity, any transit permissions and the paperwork requested by your care provider. ASM can help coordinate the aviation side of a trip, but cannot grant a visa or guarantee entry.
Confirm the ground handover and return plan
Give the transfer provider the receiving facility’s full address, the named contact and the assistance agreed for the passenger. Confirm the vehicle, pickup point, accompanying travellers and baggage capacity. Any clinical handover belongs to the healthcare providers; an airport transfer booking does not provide a medical team.
Keep the return flight provisional until the treating clinician has confirmed when travel is appropriate. Ask for the charter’s amendment and cancellation terms before payment, and identify who will update the operator if the appointment or discharge date changes. Disclose equipment dimensions and power requirements for operator assessment before selecting the aircraft.

How ASM can assist
For suitable non-emergency travel, ASM Charter can discuss aircraft availability, routing and quotation options. The broader flight support team assists operators with permit coordination, flight planning and ground handling where applicable. All arrangements depend on operator acceptance, regulatory approvals and supplier availability.
ASM does not currently accept dedicated MEDEVAC or air ambulance bookings, supply medical teams, or provide medical advice. If a patient needs an equipped medical flight, contact a licensed air ambulance provider and the treating clinician directly. See our medical flight planning guide for the distinction.
