There are so many ways to travel with pets. It could be a driving trip, travel by cruise ships or flying a pet in the cargo of a commercial airline. These options, nonetheless, may be limited by a complex set of rules and regulations over the species, breed and size of a pet. In today’s airline industry, fewer and fewer airlines allow pets on board, the seats are reducing in size and it is getting more and more challenging to fit a pet in the cabin of the aircraft. If your pet is over 15 pounds or more than 12 inches tall, then, most commonly it will have to fly in the cargo hold. This section of the cargo is pressurized and temperature controlled, but some gentle souls are intolerant to enclosed spaces, which makes the flight a traumatic experience.
Most airlines imply a limit of one pet per passenger in the cabin. If there are multiple pets or the pets are unaccompanied, then they will have to travel as checked baggage or as cargo. During the summer heat and in winter colder months, when the temperature on the runway exceeds comfort levels, many airlines will not accept a pet as checked baggage or as cargo. Many countries such as the United Kingdom, will only allow pets to fly commercially as manifest (air) cargo and not in the cabin.
