Munich is preparing to host the UEFA Champions League Final on May 31, 2025, at the Allianz Arena. Munich Airport (MUC/EDDM) will implement special operational procedures to accommodate the expected surge in air traffic.

- Noise Abatement Procedure at Night – Active; At Munich Airport and its vicinity, pilots must minimize noise disturbance. Aircraft engines should be as quiet as possible. This is especially important during night time.
- Night Flying Restrictions – 2200–0600 LT; Flight operations are restricted. Only aircraft that meet ICAO Annex 16, Chapter 3 noise limits are allowed. Exceptions apply only to:
- Emergency or disaster relief flights
- Technical or meteorological safety-related landings
- Government-approved flights in exceptional cases of public interest or to avoid major air traffic disruptions.
⚠️ Special Operational Procedures (May 28 – June 1, 2025)
1. Mandatory PPR for Business Aviation
From May 28, 03:00 UTC to June 1, 22:00 UTC, all business aviation flights require a Prior Permission Required (PPR) approval. This is in addition to standard airport slots. Slot requests submitted without a valid PPR number will be rejected. Ground time should be minimized due to limited parking availability.
2. Ramp Congestion and Alternate Airport Restrictions: No Alternate Use: May 30 – June 1
Munich Airport cannot be used as a planned destination between May 30 and June 1. It also cannot be used as an en route alternate due to ramp congestion and special flight operations. Only emergency or technical diversions are permitted during this period.
3. Aircraft Repositioning and Towing
Due to high demand, aircraft repositioning for refuelling is expected. Crews should be prepared for potential towing at any time. Ensure that aircraft are configured to allow for towing operations.
Security Enhancements
Munich Airport has completed the modernisation of its central security lanes in Terminal 2. The modernisation incorporates 15 lanes equipped with advanced Computed Tomography (CT) scanners. These upgrades aim to optimise passenger processing and enhance overall security standards.
